Neil James

Biography for Neil James

Neil James has been employed in IT activities for over 30 years. This has included technical development work, lecturing in universities, and managing and directing IT services. Until recently he was the Director of Information Technology Services at the University of Otago, where he now holds the position of Assistant Director, Information Services Division, with particular responsibility for the University's IT policy and strategy.

Neil has been involved in the development of computer networking in New Zealand for over two decades, including taking a leading role in the evolution of the original New Zealand universities' national network, the establishment of the Tuia Society and the research and education network, and the establishment of ISocNZ (InternetNZ).
