Biography for Deb Struthers

Deb Struthers is currently working on the Ministry of Education's portal plus web site for New Zealand schools Te Kete Ipurangi, as Professional Manager. She is also National Manager of EdCom Network a division of the Multi Serve Education Trust. EdCom was created in 1996 when representatives from both the education and business sectors recognised that schools would benefit from joining an organisation that could work with both schools and industry to provide bulk discounts on ICT products and also provide supporting expertise in the integration of ICT into teaching and learning programmes. EdCom has a current membership of over 1,000 New Zealand schools, from early childhood to secondary. Deb has taught in both in primary and secondary schools for more than 15 years and worked as an adviser to schools in ICT for the last ten years. She has written and edited the Classroom page for NZ Info Tech Weekly and has managed the Wellington education sales business for both Acorn and Apple Computers. Deb co-judged the 1998 ICONZ awards and has worked on many Ministry of Education ICT related contracts. She works hard to encourage both the education and business communities to increase their understanding and commitment to ICT for the future of our children.
