Robert Gray

InternetNZ By-Election 2003
Candidate for Secretary - Robert Gray

I was elected to the ISOCNZ Council at the 2000 AGM and was the first chair the SRS Implementation Oversight Committee for somewhat over 12 months.

I also was appointed to the Board of Domainz and was elected chairman which I have been for the past three years. During this time the company has:

  • resolved the unfortunate legal action the it was a party to,
  • retained a new CEO,
  • resolved the stability and other issues of the DRS,
  • produced a detailed report on the DRS project,
  • been refocused on customer service and
  • migrated from being the .nz registry to being a competitive registrar under the SRS.

I did not stand for re-election at the end of my term as councillor due to the workload of Domainz and my other interests. While a number of challenges remain for Domainz these will very shortly become the new owners and the InternetNZ appointed Board will reach the end of their tenure. I therefore believe that I now have the time to become more directly involved with the society again.

If elected to the role of InternetNZ secretary my goal is to continue the progress to more transparent processes within the society and to support the implementation of geek.nz and other 2lds that have a significant community of interest.

Apart from being a director of FX Networks, I am President of the Pukekohe Light Opera Club and treasurer of our local flying club.
