Biography for Keith Davidson

I have served on InternetNZ's Council since 1998, the past two years as President. During the past two years, I believe our most significant milestones to have been the smooth transition to a functioning SRS allowing for a competitive .nz domain name market, and a greater degree of harmony and progress between InternetNZ and its operations, and the Society's members and Internet stakeholders. There are however still some significant loose ends that I would like to complete, such as the orderly disposal of Domainz, and progress towards Best Practice for the Internet in NZ. I therefore seek your support in my role as President for a further two years.

For those who are not familiar with my background, I have been involved in the NZ newspaper industry for 25 years, until December 2001. I currently own and operate a small regional ISP, WISE Net, in Masterton, which I have been involved in since its inception in 1996. Amongst other interests I also serve on the Wairarapa Smart Region Incorporated group, which has the major objective of improving IT skills with my region, and is one of the trial regions in the Government's Project PROBE rural broadband initiative.

My wife Diane and I enjoy life on our rural lifestyle block and small olive grove near Masterton, where we live with our 2 children and 2 Newfoundland dogs.

I look forward to serving a further term as your Society's President, and would be happy to answer any questions or address any queries you might have. I can be contacted by email
