Councillor Biography - Sean Weekes
Sean Weekes, General Manager of ICONZ New Zealand's third largest business ISP is at the cutting edge of Internet and IT technology and has been for more than 20 years. He has been instrumental in developing a nationwide internet strategy for ICONZ taking into consideration complex technical equipment designs and the art of industry management including developing telecommunication and industry relationships.
In his role as principle manager of ICONZ he has created an overall understanding of network backbones, Internet ethics, company and Internet laws and policies within ICONZ, and is regarded as an industry expert in the New Zealand media.
Sean also has a strong depth of technical understanding when it comes to last mile and product technology such as wireless, satellite, WIFI and ADSL. As these networks grow and further result in convergence, Sean's acute knowledge, enthusiasm and personal drive can be of great benefit to InternetNZ.
Sean's professional understanding of the industry will give InternetNZ the benefit of a experienced technology innovator with a track record of 'making it work' at a management and technology level.
