Acceptable Use of Mailing Lists (AUPs)

Members-only | Public List | Announce | Internet Code of Practice | International Governance |

N.B. Various other mailing lists are created from time to time to allow members and/or public discussion and/or consultation. Unless otherwise stated the AUP's for these lists are the same as for the International Governance list. Check the ListInfo page for details.

MEMBERS MAILING LIST (members-discuss)

The Members Mailing List is a closed mailing list created for the sole use the membership of InternetNZ.

  • List members are reminded that everyone is busy in their own [paid] occupations and therefore appreciates brevity in postings. Please delete any unnecessary parts of previous emails which you are responding to.
  • In order for all list members to feel able to fully participate in discussions, contents of the Members list postings may not be posted to public lists or outside persons/bodies without the permission of the author/s
  • Cross-posting - the sending of the same email message to more than one list at the same time (e.g. using the cc line)- is not allowed
  • No personal attacks are acceptable and issues will be addressed purely on their merits.
  • Any list member who has a personal issue with another list member may ask the President of InternetNZ to mediate (president@internetnz.net.nz); failing that they will conduct relevant correspondence privately off list.
  • Some information which the Council, it's Officers, or the Executive Director posts to the list may be marked as Confidential - subscription to this list is takenas an agreement to honour Confidentiality.
  • Abuse of any type will result in action being taken by the list owners which may include removal of offenders from the list.
  • Membership of this list is private and email addresses are not available for retrieval (i.e., who-is look-ups are not available)

PUBLIC MAILING LIST (public-discuss)

The Public Mailing List is an open mailing list created for the discussion of issues relevant to the Internet community in New Zealand.

Please Note: This list is not moderated in any way, and the AUP's are suggested but not enforced. InternetNZ takes no responsibility for content posted to this list. Subscription to this list is deemed to be acceptance of this.

  • List members are reminded that everyone is busy in their own [paid] occupations and therefore appreciates brevity in postings. Please delete any unnecessary parts of previous emails which you are responding to.
  • In order for all list members to feel able to fully participate in discussions, contents of public list postings should not be posted to other public lists or outside persons/bodies without the permission of the author/s
  • Cross-posting - the sending of the same email message to more than one list at the same time (e.g. using the cc line)- is not allowed

INTERNETNZ ANNOUNCE MAILING LIST(members-announce)

The Announce Mailing List is an open mailing list created for the sole purpose of announcements and news from the InternetNZ Council, Officers, and their appointees to members-announce subscribers.

  • No-one other than the InternetNZ Council, Officers, and their appointees can post to the list.
  • Membership of the list is restricted to members of InternetNZ
  • Membership of this list is private and email addresses are not available for retrieval (i.e., who-is look-ups are not available)

INTERNET CODE OF PRACTICE LIST (icop)

The icop Mailing List is the official mailing list for the Signatories of the Internet Code of Practice and has been created for the discussion of issues relevant to the development of the Internet Code of Practice, reviews of the Code's contents when needed, and the development of an ICoP Disputes Board.

  • List members are reminded that everyone is busy in their own [paid] occupations and therefore appreciates brevity in postings. Please delete any unnecessary parts of previous emails which you are responding to.
  • In order for all list members to feel able to fully participate in discussions, contents of the cop list postings should not be posted to public lists or outside persons/bodies without the permission of the author/s.
  • Cross-posting - the sending of the same email message to more than one list at the same time (using the cc line) - is not allowed.

The International Governance Mailing List is an openmailing list created for the discussion of issues from the wider international arena relevant to the New Zealand Internet community and to the activities of InternetNZ
