History of the Internet in New Zealand

Media Release - July 26, 2006 - The Internet Society of New Zealand, InternetNZ, wishes to commission a history of the Internet in New Zealand and is inviting applications from suitable professionals interested in undertaking this project.

The purpose of the history is not to create a publication for the purpose of commercial gain, but to accurately record the activities, events and people which contributed to the creation, then growth, of the Internet in New Zealand.

In terms of the format of the publication InternetNZ is open minded as to whether it is a traditional print publication, electronic publication or both.

InternetNZ will assist the successful applicant with regards to suggested core people to interview for the backbone of the history but expects the project will be a dynamic process, with the successful applicant making final creative decisions as to what material is covered.

The proposal should include the following:

Professional background and CV with regards to writing or journalism
Knowledge of the New Zealand Internet and its history
How you would propose to undertake the project
Likely cost or range

Proposals from interested professionals are sought by 25 August 2006.

For further information or to submit a proposal please contact Susi Fookes, either by email susi@internetnz.net.nz, or phone 04 472 1600.
