New Zealand Internet Industry Awards – applications open

Media Release - 10 July 2009 (published on behalf of the Liz Dengate Thrush Foundation) - The Liz Dengate Thrush Foundation is pleased to announce that applications for the inaugural New Zealand Internet Industry Awards are now open.

The New Zealand Internet Industry Awards acknowledge, reward and encourage Internet entrepreneurship, business applications, social benefits and educational programs contributing positively to New Zealand life.

Interested applicants are invited to visit www.ldtf.org.nz/events/index.html to apply.

Applications must be from New Zealand-based companies or individuals, be made in writing and not exceed 2000 words.

The Award categories are:

  • Societal Impact - recognising the development of the application, product or services provided on the Internet likely to have the most beneficial impact on New Zealand society.
  • Best Education Product or Service - recognising the application, product or services provided on the Internet likely to have the greatest impact on learning and/or teaching in New Zealand.
  • Best Business Application Award - recognising those that transform their methods of doing business, or change our way of doing business with them.
  • Internet Entrepreneur of the Year - recognising that rare breed of individual who has put capital and reputation on the line and successfully contributed to New Zealand’s wealth.

Award winners will be announced at a premier black-tie dinner at Parliament’s Banquet Hall on 20 August. Special guests include ‘father of the Internet’ Dr Vint Cerf, and Minister for ICT, Hon. Steven Joyce.
