Report on Activity for November – December 2005

The InternetNZ Anti-spam Task Force has been largely quiescent during this two month period. Until the draft legislation is assigned dates for iits select committee phase, there is relatively little for the task force to do, and high external commitment levels have reduced the opportunity for meetings. The next meeting of the Task Force is likely to be a short teleconference sometime late in December or early in January.

As soon as dates are allocated for the select committee phase, the Task Force will begin meeting in earnest and preparing its submissions.

In the meantime, the Chair is preparing a paper on the proposed alternative enforcement model we will be recommending – this paper will be submitted to the task force in due course.

Other pending issues include the visit to the ACA in Melbourne by the Chair and Vice Chair, which has been placed on hold until the Vice Chair returns from overseas, and the redesign of the StopSpam web site, which will require consultation with staff, presumably early in the New Year.

David Harris,
Chair.
