Report on Activity for January - February 2006
The InternetNZ Anti-spam Task Force
has been doing the following since the report presented to the
December 2005 Council meeting:
The Chair’s paper on a
proposed alternative enforcement model was completed and has been
considered by the TF. It will shortly be finalised.
The Chair, David Farrar and
Jordan Carter met with ACMA in Melbourne on 14 February, following
the Minister agreeing to such a meeting, to discuss ACMA’s
experience in enforcing Australia’s Spam Act 2003.
The submissions on the
Unsolicited Electronic Messages Bill, to the Commerce Select
Committee, opened in late February and will close on 31 March 2006.
Work therefore begins in
earnest on the Submission. The Task Force anticipates a meeting early
in March, possibly aligned with the Public Policy Committee, to
consider an initial draft of the Submission which will be prepared by
the Chair, David Farrar and Jordan Carter.
The remaining pending
issue is the redesign of the StopSpam web site, which will require
consultation with staff, presumably after ICANN.
Please see the report
attached to the Anti-Spam Project Plan in the Executive Director’s
report for details of the meeting with ACMA.
