Executive Director's Report to Council 25/05/01

REPORT FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

TO MAY 25 2001 ISOCNZ COUNCIL MEETING

INTRODUCTION

I have spent the period since the last Council Meeting (April 26) primarily focused on the following five areas - the Minutes, the issues surrounding the defamation case and the SGM which follows today's Council Meeting, two marketing opportunities, the ISP Forum and completing all Action Items from the last meeting.

REBRANDING

I prepared a brief for the logo design. The first response is in and the estimate is for between $14507 and $48000, plus printing costs. This fits within the Budget estimates.

MARKETING ACTIVITIES

  • I attended the " Australia and NZ e-Business Summit " May 4-7, and presented the paper as notified. This exercise was at no cost to the Society and was an effective networking opportunity. All New Zealanders at the Summit attended the presentation. The presentation is available on the new Presentations page as previously advised.
  • I gave a presentation to the Masters of Commerce class of the Auckland University Law School on May 10. I addressed the ICANN issues in relation to Intellectual Property, Trade Marks, and UDRP. Several people were interested in our DNDRP consultation and I encouraged them to get involved.

ISP FORUM

The date for the ISP Forum is July 25-27 , with the final day being devoted to APNIC training. I am consulting with APNIC to see if they can fund Pacific ccTLD managers to attend.

STOCKHOLM ICANN MEETING

I fly out for the ICANN Meeting in Stockholm on the evening of May 28, and arrive back in NZ on June 10. I am taking three days off to visit Copenhagen.
