I am currently a professional Member of InternetNZ. I have been a member of InternetNZ since arriving in New Zealand in 1998. I have attended every Council meeting of the Society since joining, (except one for a situation outside my control), first as an observer and then as a Councillor from 2001. I have been honoured to have served as both Treasurer and subsequently Secretary of the Society. I also sat for one term on the NZOC.

I was the first INZ member, not on Council, to chair a working group of InternetNZ, the Constitution Review Working Group, when I was appointed by Council in December 1999. The WG created the current Constitution of InternetNZ, completed at the AGM in 2001. This Working Group later morphed into the Governance and Constitution Committee under my chairmanship which continued to handle constitutional issues, took on governance matters and other matters referred by Council.

I was vice-chair of the Structural Review Task Force, under Roger Hicks' chairmanship, which advised on the restructuring of the governance of the Society, and subsequently on the implementation task force under David Farrar's chairmanship. The outcome of the restructuring will allow for greater focus of the various units and I look forward to the near future of the Society allowing Council to focus more clearly on its governance role and less on operational matters, with an outcome as beneficial as the setting up of the SRS and the units devoted solely to management of it. I am standing for a Council position and look forward to being part of this process.

I am currently a freelance IT consultant, mostly involved in the voluntary sector, both at the Board level and undertaking various IT related roles. I am a Member of the Institute of Directors NZ.
