Carl Penwarden

I have relished the opportunity to contribute to InternetNZ as a councillor during the last 12 months.  As a firm supporter of Internet NZ's vision, I believe that this vision is gaining in importance as the Internet intersects with almost all areas of life. I am standing for a further term because I would like to utilise and build on the experience I’ve gained with Council during the last year.

My broad background in Telecommunications & IT delivers some value to the governance of InternetNZ. I have held technical, sales and business development roles, over the past 20 years, with CityLink, Nokia, Unisys and Telecom NZ.  During the last 18 months I have been working at the State Services Commission running the State Sector Broadband Demand Aggregation initiative and have overseen the development of the National Broadband Map. From 1 July 2008 I’ve started a new role with Voco Ltd.

I am a University of Auckland Engineering graduate.

Away from work I am a keen cyclist, and with my wife Sandy, we have toured extensively around New Zealand, and sometimes the world, on our tandem bicycle www.penwarden.co.nz.
