NZRS Report
NZRS have produced their monthly report for January 2006. Main points NZOC would like to highlight with Council are:
System availability for January was 99.92% against the SLA standard of 99.9%
There was an event on 26 January that resulted in an outage lasting 16 minutes and 52 seconds. It began at 08:15 hours when the four servers went out of synch and there were problems as they went down and came back up. The SRS required a total resynchronisation of all servers which meant that the network load while this was being undertaken resulted in an increase in various transaction times.
The maintenance window for January was not utilised

Response Times
The figures are derived from the 'stress testing' of the name servers. 1201 UDP and 121 TCP transactions are used. Measurements are in milli-seconds.

The total number of WHOIS queries increased from 1,590,000 to 1,767,000
The level of active .nz domain names increased from 209,927 to 213,194, a net increase of 3,267
.nz Policies and Procedures
2.1 Registrar Compliance
No major compliance issues were dealt with during January
2.2 Policy Reviews
There are currently no reviews being undertaken
2.3 Applications
No applications were received under the Zone Transfer Policy and no applications for a new Second Level Domain were received.
Registrar authorisation and connection
No further organisations were authorised as a .nz registrar over the month. There were also no new connections to the production system.
Other .nz matters
Consultation on the draft Dispute Resolution Service Policy closed on 5 January 2006. Seven public submissions were received,. A number of amendments to the draft policy were made as a result of the submissions received.
DRS Planning
Work during January included:
Advertising for applicants for the roles of Experts and Mediators, on the DNC and InternetNZ websites and in LawTalk
Evaluation of submissions received and a paper produced for the Working Group summarising the comments and making recommendations as to what amendments to make to the policy based on the feedback
Work continued on the website and database development and integration
Senior Support Analyst has started documenting workflows and office requirements
DNC Office
Work has begun on recruiting an Administration Officer to manage the DRS complaints process. It is hoped this person will be in place by the time the Induction training for Experts is held at the end of March
