NZOC report to Council
NZRS have produced their monthly report for January 2008. Points NZOC would like to highlight with NZOC are:
§ System availability for January was 99.97% against the SLA standard of 99.9%
Total unscheduled outage time was 664 seconds (11minutes, 04 seconds). The majority of the outage time (10 minutes and 40 seconds) was due to one incident where the Albany gateway stopped responding to certain requests and the machine required rebooting.
§ The scheduled maintenance window was utilised on Sunday 20 January 2008.

Performance Stress Testing
The figures are derived from the 'stress testing' of the name servers. 1201 UDP and 121 TCP transactions are used. Measurements are in milli-seconds.

SRS Zone Pushes
These figures show the average time taken from the point that the first Primary begins the zone push to the time that the last of the secondary’s acknowledges that it is up to date.

§ The total number of WHOIS queries increased from 2,588,000 to 2,734,000.
§ The level of active .nz domain names increased from 314,053 to 317,772. An increase of 3719.
.nz Policies and Procedures
2.1 Registrar Compliance
§ No major compliance issues were identified in January.
2.2 Policy Reviews
§ A review of the Dispute Resolution Service commenced in December. Comments are sought on the operation of the current policy by midday on Wednesday 13 February 2008. As at the end of January, one submission had been received. Submissions received can be seen at www.dnc.org.nz/drs-consult.
2.3 Applications
§ No applications were received for a new second level domain. One application for release of the zone file was received which is still being evaluated.
Registrar authorisation and connection
§ No registrars connected to the production environment during January, and there were no organisations authorised as a .nz registrar.
Dispute Resolution Service (DRS)
Only 2 valid complaints were received during January, compared to only one at the same time last year. Full statistics are available at http://dnc.org.nz/drs-statistics.
5. DNC Office
§ Work is continuing on preparing for Domain Name Commission Limited to commence operations on 1 April 2008.
