Lee Sycamore

I have been closely involved for the past 9 years as a consultant, developer and designer in the development of the Internet in New Zealand. I came into the industry with a solid background in publishing, design and advertising.

I have been a member of InternetNZ for several years now and have provided input to its work at different levels. I have a strong interest in the activities of the organisation's Council. I am also passionate about the Internet and the possibilities it can give to this country.

If elected to this position I would bring commitment, enthusiasm and media expertise to the work of the Council in seeking the unfettered development of the Internet so that everyone in this country can take advantage of its obvious multifarious benefits. I am strongly supportive of InternetNZ's advocacy to urge the Government to properly regulate the Knowledge Economy.

One of the more relevant education-focused projects I have conceptualised recentlly would utilise broadband and wireless technologies with high level content development that fits extremely well with the Digital Strategy.

In my professional career, I have worked in most facets of the media including radio, television, print, publishing and the Internet. I am presently self employed in my own company, which is involved with convergence media. Present projects include assignments for both public sector and commercial organisations. I will shortly be working on another project that could bring huge success for New ZealandÕs content development in social networking.

I am an active member of the Designers Institute of New Zealand, the Maori Womens' IT group, W.I.T (Women in Technology) and webgrrls. I am also a council member of the National Press Club and devote part of my spare time each week as a voluntary tutor in reading at a decile one school in Lower Hutt.
