Committee Structure Report of President to Council 2001

PROPOSED INITIAL MEMBERSHIP OF COMMITTEES AND WORKING GROUPS

I have prepared the following draft for the standing committees and working groups, generally in consultation with the people concerned, and with significant input and revision from our secretary and treasurer. I think the composition of the various committees and groups will give us a platform to really go forwards this year. I appreciate the largely voluntary effort that is required from you all, and hope that I have not overburdened you too much.

I also would like to suggest that the actual go-forwards for our Society will come from the efforts within the committees and groups. I appreciate there will be a short period of "catch-up" for people who are new to committees and groups, and trust the senior members of those groups will be tolerant until people are up to speed.

Could Councillors please provide feedback as to any changes they would like, within the next 72 hours. Then we'll submit it to an e-vote so we can have them confirmed within a week and start work.

David Farrar, Steven Heath and I have tried to comply with people's requests as much as possible while also trying to keep committees from getting too large or small.

All Councillors (bar two) are on at least two Committees or Working Groups and all Councillors are also welcome to go onto the TOC (TLD Oversight Committee) which will co-ordinate all TLD issues. In time, no doubt, the composition of TOC will change. If a Councillor wishes to go onto TOC please let the Chairperson know either by e-mail (chair@isocnz.org.nz) or on the Council list. For at least the immediate future TOC will meet on the same day and same venue as Council.

Admin Cmte will prepare draft terms of references detailing duties and powers (if any) for each Cmte and WG (based on existing ones but in different format) and submit these to the face to face meeting in August. Keith Davidson Chair
