Rick Shera

Biography for Rick Shera

Rick Shera is a partner at Auckland specialist corporate, commercial and ICT law firm, Lowndes Jordan.

He heads up Lowndes Jordan's ICT team which acts for leading ISPs, webdesign houses, software licensors and network providers/integrators.

Rick has a Masters degree from Auckland University in internet law and copyright and is both a Councillor, and Chair of the Legal & Regulatory Affairs Committee, of InternetNZ. He is also convenor of the working group looking at whether to introduce a local domain name dispute resolution service for the .nz domain name space and is a committee member of the Auckland District Law Society's Law and Technology Committee.

Recently, Rick was a member of the InternetNZ delegation which had success in persuading Paul Swain, the Minister for Commerce, for Telecommunications and for Information Technology, and officials, of the need for change to the Crimes Amendment Bill (No 6), which has potentially significant impact on ISPs.
