Why Do I want to be President of InternetNZ?

The last three years have been dramatically successful for InternetNZ. This has been as the result of good governance, a strong and effective staff, and superb teams and committees. During this time we have been considering how to enhance the structure of the society to allow us to continue to deliver these results, while widening our capability and forming a future proof structure. This will mean significant changes, provided the members agree.

The effects of these changes on staff and council will be challenging, and must be addressed properly from both management and governance perspectives.  I am standing for the role of President because I believe I have the skills to preside over this process. Having sound and proven relationships will be one of the keys to successful change. Having worked as a member of the staff and as a councillor, I will provide a hands-off style of leadership which will allow project teams and staff to work to their true potential, while keeping council scanning and delivering at the strategic level. In addition I will use our recent achievements to lift our public profile by developing strong and balanced roles between staff and President when we want our views to be heard and seen.

And of course, these goals must be met without dropping the ball on our ongoing business and social responsibilities.
