Acceptable Use Policies for Council Mailing Lists

COUNCIL ANNOUNCE MAILING LIST

The Council Announce Mailing List is a closed mailing list created for the sole purpose of announcements and news to the InternetNZ Council.

  • No-one other than the InternetNZ Chair, Secretary, and Executive Director can post to the list.
  • Councillors may reply to postings - replies will be automatically directed to the original poster.
  • Membership of the list is restricted to Council members of InternetNZ and all Councillors must be subscribed and are expected to check this list regularly.
  • Membership of this list is private, email addresses are only available to list members for retrieval.
  • The list is also mirrored to a password-protected area of the web site and is threaded so that list members can choose the "no mail" setting and read the list on-line instead of receiving postings directly via email.
  • Information which is posted to this list is confidential - subscription to this list is taken as an agreement to honour confidentiality.

COUNCIL DISCUSS MAILING LIST 

The InternetNZ Council Discuss Mailing List is a closed mailing list created for the sole use the Council of InternetNZ to discuss issues between face-to-face Council Meetings.

  • Councillors may use the list to gain consensus for a motion for the next face to face meeting. Any Councillor may decide that there is consensus and must then email the Executive Director, Chair, or Secretary with notice of motion. If the issue is urgent and requires an E-Vote, the Councillor may request the Chair of InternetNZ to call the Council into E-session via the Council Announce mailing list.
  • Membership of the list is restricted to Council members of InternetNZ and all Councillors are encouraged to subscribe and to check this list regularly.
  • List members are reminded that everyone is busy in their own [paid] occupations and therefore appreciates brevity in postings. Please delete any unnecessary parts of previous emails to which you are responding.
  • In order for all list members to feel able to fully participate in discussions, contents of the Council Discuss list postings may not be posted to public lists or outside persons/bodies without the permission of the author/s
  • Cross-posting - the sending of the same email message to more than one list or person at the same time (e.g. using the cc line) - is not allowed.
  • No personal attacks are acceptable and issues will be addressed purely on their merits.
  • Any list member who has a personal issue with another list member may ask the Chair of InternetNZ to mediate; failing that they will conduct relevant correspondence privately off list.
  • Abuse of any type will result in action being taken by the list owners which may include removal of offenders from the list.
  • Membership of this list is private, email addresses are only available to list members for retrieval.
