Report of the Legal & Regulatory Affairs Committee 27/10/01

1. The Chair of the Committee along with the Chair and Executive Director of the Society met with Paul Swain and members of his office and the Ministry of Justice with respect to the Crimes Amendment Bill No 6. Following that meeting we agreed a change to the Bill with the Ministry of Justice.

2. Members of the Committee and of the Domain Name Dispute Resolution Working Group had a useful meeting with Erik Wilbers of WIPO to discuss domain dispute resolution models in general and WIPO's approach in particular.

3. The dndr wg has completed its first discussion paper which is now to be published. [Approval is sought from Council for that publication (see below)

MOTION ####

THAT the first discussion paper of the domain name dispute resolution working group be received [with thanks] and that it be published for comment on the Society's website and further as deemed appropriate by the working group.]
