ENUM Task Force

The First meeting of the ENUM Industry Steering Group was held on the 8 th of September 2005.

David Farrar Chaired the meeting.

It was agreed the committee is envisaged to have a 12-18 month lifespan and that it will be co-chaired.

InternetNZ will provide a Secretariat Service to the Steering Group

Various models of Operator and User ENUM were outlined and a comparison of ENUM issues were tabulated and outlined.

The next meeting of the EISG is proposed for early November 2005.

It was agreed that all public/media statements will be agreed by co-chairs prior to release.

Two papers in response to the M-co Report have been received and we have been advised to expect two additional papers from Telecom and Telstra Clear.

The New Zealand representative to the Asia Business Advisory Council (ABAC) has provided a copy of the Technology Working Group Report to the ABAC Closing Plenary held in Kuala Lumpar. The report specifically identifies New Zealand report on "communications identifiers" para 16 and has recommended that the ABAC's plenary at APEC’s meeting in November authorise funding from the ABAC Research Fund to "develop standards and protocols to ensure the new generation of communications services and capabilities can be delivered in ways that are compatible across the APEC region".

Recommendations to Council

The following recommendations are moved for Council:

  • THAT the ENUM Task Force report be received.
