Why am I standing for Councillor, well in plain English 'to make a difference'.

I believe that the Internet is key to the future of this country. Ubiquitous high-speed quality Internet access and services will benefit all New Zealanders.

Internet NZ plays a key role in this space and for me is one of the few avenues open to contribute in making New Zealand a better place to live and work.

Many years ago I had the privilege to work for iHUG and then Netlink when the Internet was new and fresh.  This was a time when only the largest of organisations had dedicated 64Kbps or 128Kbps connections, and for most of us dialup was the only option.  It provided grounding for the rest of my career, and I still think of this time as the 'golden era' of the Internet.

I then when on to work for TelstraClear and Telecom before making a brave (for me) jump into the world of consulting, where I have really enjoyed the challenges and work.

I offer a good mix of technical and business knowledge and believe that I can make a positive contribution to Internet NZ.
