Nominee for Council 2005-07 : Jennifer Northover

The key strengths I offer to Council are:

  • Financial literacy
  • Business planning and improvement
  • Policy
  • Strategy
  • Governance
  • In depth experience of Internet entities worldwide
  • A sensible professional approach to achieving best results

During the 2 years of my recent tenure I have –

  • Been an active member of the Oversight Committee, contributing to policy development and the relationships of NZOC with the Internet community and other entities of the Internetnz family,
  • Participated in the International review
  • Assisted in developing a number of Internetnz’s own internal policies,
  • Been a member of the International Committee as vice chair of this committee, and represented Internetnz in the CENTR (European) community.
  • Attended international meetings, including earlier this year, attending a conference on enum, risk management in internet management and Disputes Resolution, and participating at a 2 day workshop convened to provide constructive comment on the draft ICANN Strategic Plan and to develop a workable consultative process.
  • Ensured that meetings for members in Auckland have been held.

I am currently a member of the planning committee for the ICANN meeting planned for March 2006.

Within the last few weeks I have completed the Institute of Directors Company Directors course, which adds to my professional skills in business and governance. In my day job I consult in business improvement and information systems, most recently assisting Ernst & Young, Macquarie Goodman, and Air New Zealand.

I keenly support the uptake of broadband to all sectors of the community for public and private benefits.

My intentions, if re-elected are:

  • Ensure Internetnz manages its activities to comply with good business practice and to be accountable to members and the Local Internet Community,
  • Continue to develop the Auckland members’ meetings,
  • Contribute with input into the international arena where appropriate,
  • Support the enum project and all internet initiatives which generate benefits to the NZ community
  • Assist with evaluating the formation of a Digital Opportunities Foundation, coherent with the recently released digital strategy.
