InternetNZ Election 2004
Candidate for Council - Nick Wallingford

I have now served on full term on the InternetNZ Council. During that time, I have started to develop a better understanding of the issues that face the organisation. I have actively participated in the processes that are used to establish policies and act in the overall best interests of the Internet community.

I ask for your support to provide the opportunity to serve another term.

I have been involved with Internet activities for 12 years now, and have been keenly aware of the changes in society and the technologies related to Internet provision of services. I support the intent of InternetNZ in attempting to represent the interests of users while acknowledging the inherent difficulties of that role.

I have been employed by the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic for the last 20 years, designing and delivering IT related educational programmes for most of that time. I have, over the last two years, returned to study myself (while remaining in full time employment) to obtain a Post Graduate Diploma in Computing and the Master of Computing degree from UNITEC.

I have some technical background, but also come to the Council with no entrenched prejudices or particular barrows to push. I have the ability to relate to financial statements with confidence, and the ability to collate, analyse information and make informed decisions, as well as communicate the bases both verbally and in a written form.
