MEP Taskforce Report 25/05/01

Report for 25th May 2001 Council Meeting

Methods of Electronic Participation

MEP Members:

  • Richard Bourne (Convenor)
  • Simon Blake
  • Mark Munro
  • Joop Teernstra
  • John Vorstermans
  • David Zanetti
  • Peter Dengate-Thrush (Ex-Officio)
  • Sue Leader (Ex-Officio)

Council Meeting Recording

Recording equipment for Council meetings will continue to be rented for the time being. Boyd Audio is unable to confirm that a potential new sound system would be equal to or better than the current recording system. As it only costs a few hundred dollars each month to rent the existing equipment there does not seem to be justification for purchasing equipment outright, especially if it is an inferior system. A new PC has be purchased that will accommodate both audio and video streaming of meetings.

Council eVoting Procedure

The new electronic voting system is currently being tested, in time for the 25th May 2001 SGM. It will be used to enable remote participants to vote on motions etc at the SGM. This system will also be used for the AGM in June 2001.

May 25th 2001 SGM

There has been considerable work arranging the technical aspects of the SGM. This includes setting up a videoconference link between Wellington and Auckland, installing ISDN in the ISOCNZ office and enabling video streaming of the meeting.
