APTLD

  • InternetNZ nominated Chris Disspain and Richard St. Clair for the APTLD Board
  • They have since been re-elected to the Board, as were all other returning directors.
  • Peter Macaulay acted as a scrutineer for the 2004 APTLD Board Election with Hiro Hotta from Japan, supervising and authenticating the voting process.
  • Recent new members of APTLd include the ccTLD registries from Norfolk Island, Sri Lanka, Jordan and Tokelau.
  • Keith Davidson, Peter Dengate Thrush and Pete Macaulay will be attending the APTLD meeting in Malaysia in February.

Afilias visit

Personnel from Afilias, the .pro registry manager, will be visiting Wellington in February as part of discussions with our registry. Peter Dengate Thrush, will meet with them socially, in his role as APTLD chairLG member.

ICANN

  • As at 12 February, 38 ccTLD applications for the ccNSO had been approved. Of those, 16 were from the African region, 8 from Asia-Pacific, 1 from Europe, 9 from Latin America and 4 from North America. There were also 9 new applications and 3 pending applications.
  • Of the new applications, three are from Europe, meaning that once approved there will be four European ccTLDs. None of those, however, are the larger or more vocal ccTLDs such as .uk, .de, .nl or .no.
  • Keith Davidson, Peter Dengate Thrush and David Farrar will be attending the Rome ICANN meeting. The InternetNZ IAC will also be part-funding Grant Forsyth to attend that meeting.
  • Ongoing discussion regarding the ccNSO by-laws continued during January. It is expected that this discussion will continue to the Rome ICANN meeting, where the first formal ccNSO meeting will take place if the ccNSO has been formally established. If not, a ?members meeting? will take place.

Financial

At the end of January, the .nz portion of the International Budget, which is included in the DNC budget, had spent $99,862 out of the total budget of $152,500.

InternetNZ is also going to invoice APLTD for approximately NZ$10,000.00, which InternetNZ spent on organising the APLTD Meetings in Wellington in November 2003.

Sue Leader

Sue, a foundation member of the IAC in her previous role as Executive Director of INZ has resigned from the committee. The Chair and others paid on-line tributes to Sue for her work in this area, and including the recent Review of international affairs.
